Project Engineer, Wardell Armstrong International
Yulia is a project engineer at Wardell Armstrong International (WAI), with a PhD degree in Geoscience from the University of Copenhagen, Denmark. Yulia graduated from the Novosibirsk State University in the subject of mineralogy - petrology, worked in diamond exploration projects at the Institute of Mineralogy and Petrology of the SB RAS. She trained and worked as an engineer-geophysicist at the land seismic exploration at the international oil service company Schlumberger. Author and co-author of publications in international peer-reviewed journals about the crust and mantle structure of the West Siberian basin and the East Siberian craton. At WAI, Yulia aims to support and develop the provision of high quality internationally recognised services in the Russian market and the territory of the CIS.
Sustainability: perception vs reality?

The presentation aims to show the current international requirements for sustainability in the mining sphere and the realities of implementation. This will involve an overview of the international organizations which set out sustainability guidelines. Examples of the application of these requirements, including projects executed by WAI, will be presented using real case studies which illustrate the different commercial, educational and leisure uses which are seen worldwide.
